Background: Ashley Hunter-Carrington, formerly of M16 and Mike Savage formerly of the CIA are co-leaders of the H.E.A.T. Team (Hemisphere Emergency Action Team), a group of specialists recruited to fight a secret war against international terrorism. Based in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the team operates throughout the Caribbean and around the world behind the unlikely cover of being the owners, photographers and models for a fashion company specializing in beachwear.

Review: The series was created in 1993 for syndication in the United States. It didn’t have much success and was not renewed the following year. Don’t risk your eyesight or your intelligence by actually watching an episode, tape it and fast-forward to the good parts. The best part is Brendan Kelly, the hairy-chested god on this horrible show. He doesn’t actually seem to appear bare-chested very much but when he does, whew! Have the smelling salts ready. Unfortunately it is no longer shown on the cable channel USA, but I have saved the good parts.

Brendan Kelly Profile: As far as his acting goes, the plots and dialogue afford him little opportunity to show his acting skills. It is a lot of running, shooting and fighting coupled with planning strategies and going undercover. His voice is in the medium range. He speaks with a slight Irish accent, betraying his origins.

However his physical appearance is stunning. He must be at least six feet tall because he hovers over the ensemble cast, even when they are wearing high-heels. The hair is dark brown and kept short with a receding hairline in the shape of a broad “M”. The face is strong, the eyes are brown and perhaps a bit small for his face. They are not exactly lupine or almond-shaped, but when he smiles with his dimpled cheeks, they almost shut. The chin is cleft with a dimple in the middle. He usually sports a five-o’clock shadow and the beard is high and thick on his cheeks.

The rest of his body is well-muscled. Usually when he sports a button-front shirt or tank top, you can see tufts of thick hair swirling around the opening. Rarely is he shirtless and even on those occasions the glimpse is fleeting. The best I can tell from a freeze-frame is that his chest is broad and muscular, coated with a thick expanse of dark hair. The nipples are meaty and pink. The belly is usually shaved, but now and again you can see a thick but narrow line of hair that runs down into his deep-seated navel. His crotch looks full and inviting, but more about that later.

Commentary: There is one episode that intrigues me. The title of the show is: Code Name: Abduction. It had such possibilities for satisfying my fixation on Mike Savage but never really delivered.

Episode Synopsis: Mike is interviewing a woman who is deeply concerned about the disappearance of Judge Diaz. In the course of the conversation, while he sips on a beverage, his vision blurs and he passes out. Upon awakening he finds a gun in his hand, a body on the floor, and the police knocking at the door. The woman runs to the door in a negligee and points to Mike as the murderer.

Mike is taken to court, found guilty by a corrupt judge and sentenced for execution in 24 hours. While he is remanded to Culebra Prison in a jeep, the vehicle is waylaid by a group of men who proceed to take him out of the jeep handcuffed and punch and stomp him before locking him in the trunk of one of the cars. They speed off while the H.E.A.T. team looks on helplessly.

The next scene shows Mike Savage in a villa handcuffed with his wrists in front.

Jose Suarez enters the room. It seems that Mike is going to be used as a hostage to persuade the President to stop his efforts to reform the nation’s Judiciary System. If that fails, Jose Suarez will take great pleasure in executing Mike himself.

There is a long interval when Brendan Kelly is not on screen, until he is rescued unharmed by the H.E.A.T. team. End of story. Or is it? He dismissed his ordeal casually and refused to discuss the details. Did we miss something when Mike was held captive?

I have always fantasized about what happens to Mike Savage during his captivity before the H.E.A.T. team inevitably rescues him. All this leads to a fantastic discovery. It seems there were two versions of the show. One was for distribution in the United States and the other for the world-wide market. The latter version was far more explicit as far as nudity and sexual situations, as well as containing more graphic violence.

Lately I have gotten hold of the world-wide version of this episode. Wow! It seems that Mike Savage was abused and molested in his abductors’ care after all. Let me describe for you the lost segment of this episode.
